2024 SENIOR EVENTS AND REMINDERS

If you have questions about any of the following information, you will need to reach out to Mrs. Bachman ([email protected]). More specific/final information will be distributed during the senior meeting on 04/18/2024.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • Graduation yard signs for the class of 2024 are available after school from Mrs. Woodhead and Cambridge seniors are to see Ms. Curry.
  • Obligations are due to Mrs. Woodhead by April 30. No information regarding graduation tickets at this time.
  • PLEASE listen to the announcements - important senior announcements every morning.
  • Please Watch BDTV for important senior information.
  • Check your email EVERYDAY as important information is sent through email to you.
  • FAFSA Workshop – All seniors & parent are encouraged to attend if needing help with FAFSA form, student and parent must have a FAFSA ID before beginning the FAFSA- gain valuable insights into securing the financial assistance you need for the next steps in your educational career.   • Reminder to see Mrs. Bachman with any and all scholarships you have been offered – whether you will accept or not. All monies offered must be reported to the district.
  • Reminder to see or email Mrs. Bachman if you have received a scholarship in 5th grade from Polk State College. I have spoken to many of you but e-mail again as I do not want to miss anyone and have a contact at the college I want to share.
  • Cap and gown orders – if you have not ordered your gown you must go to the Herff Jones website www.herffjonestampabay.com to order. All orders come to the school. In order to walk at the graduation ceremony all seniors must have a cap, gown, tassel and medallion. Do not pay for shipping ($78.67) orders placed after March 1, a late charge of $10 will be included each month through May 1st.

UPCOMING DATES:

  • 03/20 9:00-11:30 - Polk State College will have representatives from the college on our campus on Wednesday, 3/20 from 9-11:30 – info on college application and admissions - sign up in guidance.

  • 04/12 - Prom (early release day) Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate. From January 29-February 29:  prom guest applications will be available in the cafeteria during all lunches- Beginning February 1 and are due no later than February 29th.  Guest ID, signed by both a WHHS administrator from the guest’s last school attended, guest must be at least 14 years old and no older than 20 by date of prom (April 12, 2024) Guests are any persons who are not currently a WHHS junior or senior student.  ALL ATTENDEES (students and guests) must have a picture ID to be admitted.  Tickets will be sold in the media center during all 4 lunches Wednesday, 4/3-Tuesday 4/9.  Cost is $60 for seniors, $80 for juniors and $100 for approved guests.  Checks made payable to WHHS with student ID# or cash, no bills larger than $20. No debit or credit cards.   Students must have all obligations cleared 24 hours before ticket purchase.

  • 04/18 - Graduation meeting beginning promptly after seniors check in with their 3rd period teachers then head to the auditorium. Seniors are to bring their bookbags and a writing utensil. IMPORTANT information regarding graduation will be discussed. After the meeting seniors will be released to the cafeteria to receive their cap and gowns. Senior teachers are expected to attend the meeting as this is a very large class and your help is needed. Seniors must be present to receive their cap and gowns. If seniors are not present that day the gowns will be locked up in the main office and will be available for pick up before school or during 5th period only. Thank you.

  • 04/18 - Community Service Hours are due to Mrs. Bachman

  • 04/26 - Grad Walk/March/Commitment Day Parents welcome.  Denison Stadium 7 :30 am – more definite information TBA.  Seniors are required to wear their cap & gowns. Walk across Denison Field in memory of past graduations. Acknowledgement of future plans of graduates. Head to Brigham Academy to march through the halls cheered on by the elementary students igniting excitement for their graduation!   You are overwhelmingly welcomed by Brigham students and staff.  A fun day! 

  • 04/26 - Grad Bash (early release day) Universal -Orlando -  WHHS seniors only ($105, no bills larger than $20).  Checks or money orders should be made out to Winter Haven High School.  Seniors are bussed back and forth to Universal from WHHS – Ticket sales during all lunches:  January 16, 17, 30, 31, February 5, 6, 28, March 5, 6, 28, April 1, 2, Mr. Birdsong ([email protected]) is handling the event.  Permission slip MUST BE NOTARIZED. 

  • 04/28 - Baccalaureate – (voluntary) First Missionary Baptist Church, 4 pm (3:30 seniors line up) 200 Avenue R, N.W., Winter Haven, FL  33881. The Winter Haven Ministerial Association sponsors this senior event.  This is an interdenominational, inspirational service.  Ministers of all faiths will deliver a message/blessing in a most meaningful tradition.  Seniors must wear their gowns – NO CAPS- SENIORS WILL PROCESS INTO THE SANCTUARY and will sit with their Class.

  • 05/03 & 05/06 - Senior Exams (makeup days are 05/09 & 05/10)

  • 05/16 6:00 P.M. - Senior awards (Invitation only)

  • 05/20 7:45 A.M. - Graduation Practice - MANDATORY- graduation practice will be held at the Advent Field House.

  • 05/22 5:00 P.M. - Graduation at the RP Funding Center, Lakeland
    *We have no  information as to how many tickets each senior will receive at the moment.
    *We will announce the number of tickets as soon as we are given that information.

    *THE ONLY ACCOLADES TO BE WORN ARE THOSE AWARDED FROM SCHOOL
    *NO HEADGEAR/SCARVES may be worn
