WHHS Fee Waiver Information

Juniors and seniors who meet the requirements below are eligible to receive 2 fee waivers for each test (2 for ACT, 2 for SAT) while in high school. To receive your waiver, please follow the steps below:

  • Select your test date. It is recommended that you take these tests at least once in the spring of your junior year and once in the fall of your senior year. Therefore, it is recommended that only use one waiver per test in your junior year; save the other for senior year
  • Complete the attached waiver permission form, HAVE IT SIGNED BY YOUR PARENT OR GUARDIAN, and return to the guidance office. By signing the form, you are agreeing to show up and take the test for which you are receiving the waiver. Failure to do so will result in losing your other waivers.
  • Please tum in your completed Waiver Request at least 2 days prior to the registration deadline in order to allow time to process your waiver and return it to you.
Waivers are given out in the cafeteria by the counselor on duty approx. 2 days after request is received.
  • Once you receive your waiver, you will need to go online and register for the test on the appropriate website. When it is time for payment, you will enter the waiver number. RECEIVING THE WAIVER DOES NOT SIGN YOU UP FOR THE TEST. YOU MUST REGISTER ONLINE!!
  • As you are preparing to test, be sure to use the resources on the SAT and ACT websites. There are sample questions, practice tests, questions of the day, test format information and other useful tools. You can even get an individualized practice created for you by the Khan Academy through the SAT website.
  • See test dates and registration websites on back side of this sheet.

High school students may be eligible for Advanced Placement (AP), SAT, and/or ACT exam fee waivers. To be eligible, at least one of the requirements below must be met:

  • The annual family income falls within the Income Eligibility Guidelines set by the USDAFood and Nutrition Service. Eligibility information is available through the website www.fas.usda.gov/school-meals/incomeeligibility-guidelines. See chart on application.
  • The student is enrolled in a federal, state, or local program that aids students from low-income families ( e.g. Federal TRIO programs such as Upward Bound).
  • The family of the student receives public assistance.
  • The student lives in federally subsidized public housing, a foster home or is homeless.
  • The student is a ward of the state or an orphan.

What does a fee waiver cover?

  • Reduction to the school on Advanced Placement (AP) Exam fees.
  • Your SAT fee waiver covers 100% of the registration fees for a single test date.
  • You can use up to two waivers for the SAT and up to two waivers for the SAT SubjectTests™. That's a total of four fee waivers (up to three subject tests per test date).
  • Everyone gets four free scores sent with registration. When you use a waiver, you can also send four additional score reports (worth a total of $44) to the colleges of your choice at any time for free.
  • Most colleges charge an application fee. As a fee waiver recipient, you can obtain up to four requests to waive college application fees from your counselor. Many four-year and two-year colleges accept application waivers.
  • Your ACT fee waiver covers a portion or all of the registration fees for a single test date.
